Rare Behind-The-Scenes Polaroid Photos From Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi

Throughout the filming of "Return of the Jedi", it's said that director George Lucas made several decisions relating to the story line in order to capitalize the most on merchandising. He was hoping to hit it big in that department, hopefully making enough money to open his independent studio "Skywalker Ranch".

What kind of choices are we talking about? Well for one, Han Solo was supposed to die. Harrison Ford was definitely pushing for this and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan agreed. The guys felt that his death would show the audience that no one in the story was safe in this chaotic world.

But Lucas disagreed. According to Ford,, “George didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys.”

Well, that's a good point as far as merchandising goes.
