These Spontaneous Photos Of David Bowie And Movie Star Elizabeth Taylor Are Adorable

It was 1974 and American actress Elizabeth Taylor was working on an America/Soviet fantasy film called The Blue Bird.

The film would be shot on location in Moscow and follow the strange tale of two peasant children in search of the Blue Bird of Happiness. The story would involve a hat with a magic diamond that allowed the children to call forth the souls of any object or human, both living and dead.

It was a bizarre project that would end with most of the stars suffering from dysentery and dehydration due to poor living conditions in Russia.

The film was set to star Taylor and she was hoping to recruit David Bowie as well. With that goal in mind, she asked their mutual photographer friend Terry O'Neill to bring Bowie to the director's house in Beverly Hills for an audition.

Bowie showed up two hours late (this was during his crazy cocaine days which you can learn more about here) and Taylor was pissed. In order to break the ice, O'Neil pulled out his camera and set up an impromptu photo shoot of the two icons.

Bowie didn't get the part, but the photo shoot turned out quite well. These two are adorable together, don't you think?
