10 Incredible Coincidences Captured On The Streets Of New York

The work of photographer Jonathan Higbee is proof that there are fleeting sparks of magic and inspiration, in even the most mundane of moments.

His thoughtful and observational imagery is even more impressive when you consider that his subject live in New York. Known around the world as the city that never sleeps, the Big Apple is a bustling, thriving and frenetic metropolis filled with constant movement, noise, energy, distraction and colour.

To be able to find such simple yet brief coincidences is a testament to not only Higbee's vision, but his patience in seeking out those brief moments of calm in the storm of everyday life.

"If you've never been to New York, its hallmarks are chaos and energy. It can be overwhelming when you first set foot onto the pavement of a Manhattan street. There's intense sensory overload: visual advertisements are inescapable, street art and graffiti everywhere you look, smells and sounds blanketing the atmosphere, and, of course, people."

"An unbelievable deluge of strangers flooding every street, 24/ 7. It's an intensely surreal experience, experiencing the lifeblood of New York for the very first time." he explains

"I absolutely loved every second of it. But I wanted to filter the madness and confusion -- a great metaphor for life in general, I think -- into something more manageable. My attempts at doing just that -- taming the anarchy, capturing the surrealist essence of New York -- gradually crystallised into what is now my "Coincidences" project." he admits.

You can see more of his fantastic imagery from the series via his official site right here whilst limited edition prints as also available via Jonathan's online store - trust us, they'll look amazing on your wall!
