Floating Cities Made Of Delicate Piano Wire And Steel

Barcelona-based David Moreno builds tiny cities that gracefully float midair.

For Moreno, designing these sculptures is similar to sketching. Instead of ink, he uses tiny steel rods and piano wire. The lines intersect and layer on top of each other, much like making hatch marks with a pen. Line by line, Moreno's cities take form.

In addition to his small hanging sculptures, Moreno also builds larger installations that allow visitors to walk through the tangle of wire and rods. This cross between fort building and art looks like a lot of fun to explore.
