Can You Guess What These Fake Alien Planets Are Actually Made Of?

This Norwegian artist is a bit of a prankster. He's been shooting incredible photos of planets, only, these aren't actually planets.

These are frying pans. And not just any frying pans. These are the pans you hate to cook with because they're ancient, scratched up, and probably dented. Weird, right?

Christopher Jonassen's planet series is called "Devour" and features editorial-quality shots of banged up, old pans.

What prompted this odd series?

“When I was studying abroad in Australia,” Jonassen says, “I lived in a cheap share house with some friends, and the cooking utensils were banged up in a pretty bad way.”

It wasn't long before Jonassen started shooting them as a way to meditate on his every-day routines. But what about his work's resemblance to alien moons and planets? That was an intentional move.

“I think it’s important to notice the beauty in the small things we surround ourselves with everyday,” he says.
