Awe-Inspiring Photos Of Copenhagen's Rare Expressionist Cathedral
This unusual church in Copenhagen is one of the only expressionist churches on the planet!
Due to its unique look, the Grundtvig’s Church is one of the best-known churches in the Danish city. It's long, vertical lines and geometric shapes were taken from Brick Expressionism while the tall, vaulted ceilings reference traditional Gothic church architecture.
The massive church hosts up to 1800 people in its congregation seating and rises 160 feet into the air at the tallest point. Six million yellow bricks were used to construct the walls, paying homage to traditional Danish building materials.
This series of indoor views was shot by French photographer Ludwig Favre. You can find more of his work here.
