One Of The Most Disgustingly Original Portrait Series You'll See All Year

Part of any good chef's culinary remit is to use a variety of ingredients in as many creative and interesting ways as possible. But for head chef Robbie Postma of the J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam cafeteria, creativity and food exist beyond the confines of the kitchen.

Postma teamed up with his good friend and critically-acclaimed photographer Robert Harrison to create a series of portraits that are guaranteed to shock and surprise you in equal amounts. Titled 'MENU' it sees Robbie bravely wearing all manner of unusual dishes and culinary delights all over his face.

At times they are genuinely disturbing, combinations of meat and vegetables through to exotic spices and sugary delights drenched over Postma's face. From friendly chef to a frightening fictional character with a few well placed ingredients.

Just as impressive is the fact the entire series is free from any form of digital retouching or manipulation. When creating these images, Postma and Harrison stuck to the same principles and values a chef would when creating a menu: paying significant attention to the details, the composition, the preparation and of course the ingredients.

From cutlery to coffee bean, every component is painstakingly prepared to produce the ultimate effect. Every grain of rice was individually added by hand. The whole project took a year to complete from start to finish and each image is the result of a lengthy process of research, testing of materials, preparation, art direction, planning and of course experimenting.

The majority of the portraits took up to nine hours to prepare! You can find out more about the incredible 'MENU' series right here
