This Is What Women Do When No One Is Looking...

Look at your smartphone and into a world of curated social updates, photos soaked in filters and seemingly endless selfies and it's easy to forget the mundane and routine.

Our digital lives are often nothing more than pure escapism, the lure of the perfect moment seemingly captured at will. But what about all those moments where the hum-drum of everyday life simple fills the void?

Where you're laying the kitchen table out for dinner, rather than photographing what's on the plate. Where you're actually passed out on the couch instead of being tweeting frantically about the latest Netflix series you've become obsessed with?

That's where artist Sally Nixon draws her inspiration for her series of amusing illustrations.

Each scene replicates an infinitely relatable (yet rarely seen) side to our daily lives. From shuffling around the house without pants, to stuffing your face as you read a good book to brushing your teeth top to bottom before bed - her candid drawings are a far more accurate representation of our lives than 95% of your Instagram feed.

"The scenes I create around them are everyday places: a bathroom, a restaurant, a messy bedroom. However, my goal with each drawing is to elevate the seemingly mundane to something special." she explains.

You can see the full series (impressively it's comprised of 365 illustrations, one for each day of the year) through her official site right here.
