Epic Photos Of Nairobi’s Hip Hop Grandpas

Kenyan photographer Osborne Macharia's has a knack for perfectly channeling the coolness of the older generation. For his latest project, he photographed four older men who work as watchmen in Nairobi. And for the portraits, he captured these guys as the 80s hip hop heads they truly are!

With the help of a makeup artist and stylist, Macharia shot these four men in awesome 80s fashion. Complete with carefully styled hairdos and even fake tattoos, these older guys embody the spirit of 80s cool!

Watchmen by night, hip hop heads by day.

"Watchmen by night, hip hop heads by day. This is the story of 4 gentlemen in the heart of Kariobangi (one of Nairobi’s informal settlements) who call themselves Kabangu," explains the photographer.

"A group of real hip hop heads from the 80's who meet up regularly to educate and mentor upcoming young talent venturing out into the hip hop industry. They teach them on values such as peace, equality, prosperity and social justice. Little is known about them till now...."
