10 Celebrities Who Sold Their Souls In TV Commercials

10 Celebrities Who Sold Their Souls In TV Commercials

You might love them for their movies, respect them for their music or (in the case of Stephen Hawkings) admire their intellect. But in the case of these 9 celebrities, all have shamefully sold out for the almighty dollar to star in cringeworthy commercials.

The question is, do celebrity endorsements really work? Do people see their favourite stars on TV and automatically assume that "Well if Al Pacino using Sky Fibre Broadband, I'd better sign up too!" or is it purely designed to get your attention? Either way, companies are willing to spend a ton of money garnering the support of celebrities to promote their brands.

Car insurance isn't sexy without a smattering of celebrity sheen is it? And what about those tacos from Old El Paso? Does it not makes sense to have a stereotyped Mexican actor slicing and dicing away in the kitchen? And if you're Alice Cooper, when you're not prancing around the stage like it's 1977, why wouldn't you want to watch the Superbowl on a Samsung HD?

Do these stars need the money? Probably not, but if someone offered you a few million for half a day shooting a commercial, what would you say? Not everyone is so willing to sell their soul however, musicians like the Beastie Boys refuse to work with advertisers, but when it comes to the likes of legends such as Ozzy Osbourne and Iggy Pop - if the cheque is big enough, you can count them in.

Depressing as it may be, you can't deny that the following 10 celebrities have tarnished their legacy somewhat by starring in these ads. Then again, a new house for half a days work, can you blame them?
