Wild And Unfiltered Photos Of NYC Between 1977 And September 11, 2001

These photos by Richard Sadler capture a period in New York City when the streets were still dangerous and the art edgy.

Shot between 1977 and 2001, these photos outline a lifestyle now long past. These were the wild days, back when NYC was young and untamed.

Sadler first began shooting photography after getting a Leica camera by chance in 1977. He immediately began shooting in Boston, but after three years, moved back home to NYC to capture the vibrant and unpredictable spirit pervading the city.

His NYC work was eventually published as a book called “Eyes of the City“. You can find that here. Plus you can find more of his exceptional work via his official Instagram account.
