This Park Transforms Into A Lake In The Summer And People Take The Most Amazing Underwater Photos There

Located in Styria, Austria, Grüner See, or "Green Lake" is a unique nature park that transforms into a lake during summer months.

And though phenomenon looks incredibly surreal, it's actually pretty easy to explain.

The park lies in a low valley and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

When temperatures begin to rise, the ice and snow melts creating a serious amount of water runoff. The water collects in the basin below and forms a shallow lake during summer months.

At most, the water rises only about 12 feet. But it's just enough for divers and underwater photographers to take advantage of the seasonal feature.

The water is frigid but clear, with temperatures typically hovering around 40• F (even on a summer day). And for those willing to brave the icy temperatures, the underwater view is breathtaking.

Park benches and shaded by underwater fauna. Fields of grass wave lazily in the current, still criss-crossed by fences. A bridge lies totally submerged and useless; it won't be supporting human footsteps for several more months.

The scene is eerie but beautiful. You can find the location for Grüner See through Google Maps here" target="_blank">link
