Before And After: Photographer Normalizes Female Sexuality With Orgasm Portraits

The O Project breaks barriers related to women's sexuality by showing us what it looks like to reach orgasm.

Shot by Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti, the series features women of all different colors, ages, and body-types as they take control of their sexual pleasure. The series was created in collaboration with sexual well-being brand Smile Makers.

To capture the photos, each woman was given a personal massager. Each subject is photographed four times– before, during, and after.

The underlying message: all women deserve to be in control of their sexuality, no matter their background.

"The women span all different types of ethnicity and nationalities, coming from seemingly more sexually liberated countries, such as the USA and France, to more conservative communities like China and Singapore," reads the project description.

"The underlying message: all women deserve to be in control of their sexuality, no matter their background. Women should be free to be empowered by - and have a little fun with - their sexuality."

When you approach the taboo topic of sex through the lens of humor, people start to open up and share opinions more freely...

"I love that we were able to speak so frankly with these women about sex and pleasure," Alberti continues. "When you approach the taboo topic of sex through the lens of humor, people start to open up and share opinions more freely, which can lead to a monumental change in people’s mentality."

Find more of Alberti's work on his website or check out the series he made last year which shows what people look like after three glasses of wine.
