Distorted Cartoon Mask Photos That Look Like Spying On Trick-or-Treaters

This bizarre mask series feels a whole lot like the week after Halloween– dark, distorted, and left-over.

Wilson Hennessy is a professional photographer who does editorial work for the likes of GQ and Wired. But when he isn't doing work for clients, he comes up with strange and experimental stuff like this "Trick or Treat" series.

Shot through a pane of obscuring glass, the series recreates the experience of first peaking out at masked Trick-or-Treaters on your porch. The cartoon faces are slices and repeated in weird, distorted ways.

“The original inspiration was trick or treaters on my porch approaching my front door,” Wilson says. “I would view them, lit by my porch light above them, through the distorted glass of my front door.”

“The idea evolved slightly to simplify the picture into a really graphic, colourful, image which intrigues and draws you in until you recognize the characters you are looking at. Each image is shot through a pane of Straight Reed Obscured Glass suspended above the masks.”
