Magical Photos Of Firefly Season In Japan That Look Like Scenes From A Movie

During the months of May and June, fireflies begin the illuminate the landscape of Japan, lending an incredible sense of magic and wonder to the world.

Photographer Hiroki Ishikura set out to capture the phenomenon in remote and rural areas. He follows a young girl as she explores the glowing fields.

Thousands of blinking bugs glimmer around here, making the scenes look like something from a fairytale adventure.

These photos were taken in the Shimane Prefecture, an area popular for fireflies observing and catching. Yes, there really is a specific area in Japan that's become famous for the past-time.

But after seeing these photos, we completely understand why s tourists come here in the Summer. The firefly population combined with the landscape is breathtaking.
