Lamps And Books Magically Come To Life In These Enchanting Norwegian Landscapes

Rune Guneriussen is an installation artist who sets everyday objects free to roam in remote Norwegian landscapes.

By setting them loose in these surreal settings, Guneriussen breathes new life into the inanimate objects. They appear to be forest creators or enchanted objects, forgotten by society.

Lampshades huddle in a forest. Telephones gather like a herd of forgotten seabirds. A library of books climbs toward the sky like a weird species of tree.

“It is not as much photography as it is about sculpture and installation,” Guneriussen says in his artist statement. “…This process involves the object, story, space and most important the time it is made within. It is an approach to the balance between nature and human culture, and all the sub-levels of our own existence.”
