13 Of The Best Photos From This Years Burning Man Festival

You might know, but the Burning Man festival first started back in 1986. At the time it was nothing more than two friends setting fire an 8-ft statute on San Francisco beach. Humble beginnings for one of the most talked about festivals in the modern era.

In the proceeding the years it has grown, evolved and expanded into one of the most compelling and life-affirming festivals in the world.

This year, Burning Man 2017 was home to some 70,000 visitors who filled the desert with a myriad of artworks, sculptures, buildings and their limitless imaginations.

Described as a "Temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance." the festival is famous for being entirely self sufficient. Everything is brought, unpacked, experienced and then destroyed - as if the festival itself never happened.

A tribute to living in the moment, not dwelling the past and embracing the now.

For those of you that couldn't make it, here's our personal selection of some of the most fascinating and striking photographs from this years Burning Man Festival.

Enjoy!
