This Pink Lifeguard Stand Is An Eerie Reminder Of Climate Change

“Waiting for Water” is a fake lifeguard tower by artists Stefanie Rittler and Sascha Henken. Though the flamingo-pink colour is absurdly cheerful, the message behind the design is dark: climate change is real, so here's a tower to watch the tides rise from.

The satire here is almost tangible.

"Waiting for Water" was created as part of an ‘Urban Campsite’ in Amsterdam’s Science Park.

The event called for designers, artists, and architects to design mobile art pieces that can also be lived in. In other words, this was a chance for creatives to invent a whole new kind of camping structure.
