Artist Makes Beautiful "Henna Crowns" For Ladies Undergoing Chemotherapy

Sarah Walters is a henna artist using her talent to brighten beauty routines for women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy.

Based in Seattle, Washington, this henna master specializes in what she calls "henna crowns", intricate designs that cover the models head in stunning swirls and flower patterns.

If you have to undergo chemo, you deserve to be a QUEEN

Walters started offering this henna make-overs for free to chemo patients after creating a henna crown for one of her mom's friends.

"I initially began doing Henna crowns when my mom asked me to do one for her friend, who had recently lost her hair during chemotherapy, so I agreed to do it and it was a wonderful experience," Walters says. "From that point on, I knew that I wanted to continue to offer crowns for people. …when the crown that I do for them, gives them that boost of confidence, it’s just a really awesome feeling…"

What an honor to work with @cnn on this video for their @greatbigstory channel! Our model, Vicki, was so truly inspiring to work with and I'm grateful to have done this with her. Thank you always to @sankara_imports who so generously provides the beautiful space for me to work and create these henna crowns! Their generosity is a gift. ・・・ #Repost @greatbigstory ・・・ Losing hair following chemotherapy can be an incredibly vulnerable experience. @SarahennaSeattle is hoping to add a little light to a time that can otherwise be filled with stress and worry. So she creates intricate henna crowns for cancer patients looking for an alternative to hats or wigs. With her designs, she hopes to highlight the beauty within her clients, while giving them a boost of confidence.
