This Stone Giant In Italy Holds Incredible Secret Tunnels

Seven miles north of Florence, a stone giant crouches beside a pond full of lily pads.

This is the Appennine Colossus. He's an ancient guardian of the Park of Pratolino and a relic of 16th-century Italian art, sculpted and constructed by the Renaissance sculpture Giambologna.

But the Colossus isn't just a historic lawn ornament. It also holds a fascinating secret– the inside of the stone giant is a network of tunnels and inner rooms. And within the giant's head is a fireplace room which sends the smoke to escape through his nostrils.

You can find the Colossus here with Google Maps.
