Rare Photos Of Queen Frontman Freddie Mercury And His Boyfriend In The 80s

When Freddie Mercury first met Jim Hutton at a club, Jim gave him the cold shoulder. Freddie had offered to buy him a drink and Jim turned him down flat, not recognizing the lead vocalist of Queen.

Months later, Jim was in a restaurant with friends. Someone whispered,"Hey, Freddie Mercury is behind you." And there he was, the same guy who had tried to buy him a drink at the club. This time Jim accepted a drink and the two chatted, only to leave and not meet for another year.

Eighteen months later, Freddie ran into Jim at the same club. This time, things felt right. Freddie bought Jim another drink and they began seeing each other regularly.

Within two years, the lovebirds moved into the Garden Lodge, a quiet home in residential Kensington, London. The Garden Lodge would become home to raucous parties and late-night recording sessions.

Freddie was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987. After breaking the news to Jim, he then offered to let him leave the relationship. Ever faithful, Jim told him, "I love you, Freddie - I’m not going anywhere."

The two stayed together until Freddie's death in 1991. During those four years, Jim took care of Freddie, nursing him until his last moments.

If that isn't true love is, we don't know what is. soulmate like Jim and Freddie did. someday.
