Mesmerizing Fly-Over Photos Of Hong Kong's Dense Layout

Andy Yeung's Walled City is a fly-over tour of Hong Kong's cramped quarters.

The series is named after Kowloon Walled City, a now demolished section of Hong Kong. The walled city was a largely ungoverned settlement which was famous for its extremely dense population. Living conditions were claustrophobic with houses stacked on top of each other and then enclosed inside the wall.

Though Kowloon Walled City was demolished in the 1990s, Yeung believes you can still spot parts of the settlement scattered throughout Hong Kong.

"Part of it still exists in many of current high-density housing apartments where the only view out the window is neighbor’s window," he says. "I hope this series can get people to think about claustrophobic living in Hong Kong from a new perspective."
