Rare Snapshots Of The Beatles On Holiday Before They Became Famous

These photos capture the Beatles relaxing in Spain before their music took the world by storm.

Taken by their photographer friend Klaus Voorman, the photos highlight a relaxing seaside holiday. Paul, George, and Ringo were staying in Voorman's family villa in Tenerife, Spain.

This was back in 1963, only weeks before their debut album Please Please Me took No.1 in the UK and Beatlemania began to sweep the world.

“They were scruffy boys from Liverpool when I met them," the Voorman recalled. "My father had built a villa in the mountain and I was with him for seven months. Paul wrote me a letter and asked if they could visit. It was as simple as that.”

Though the Beatles were still unknown to the rest of the world, Voorman could immediately tell he had something special on his hands. Their sound was unlike anything else he was hearing.

“I will never forget walking into the club and hearing their sound," he said. "I had not heard anything like it before. I went back every night and eventually plucked up courage to talk to them. We have been friends ever since."

Weeks later, Please Please Me was released. It held the No.1 position in the UK for the next 30 weeks, only to be topped by With the Beatles after that. And so, Beatlemania began.
