Art History Icons Brought To Life As Stylish City Dwellers

Shusaku Takaoka shows us what would happen if art history paintings began to take life as trendy city dwellers.

Takaoka delves into the usual line-up of iconic, historic painters. Van Gogh takes a drag on his cigarette and flirts with girls on the street. Mona Lisa rides the subway, sprawled out like a fashion model. Though usually in the nude, Botticelli's Venus makes us feel underdressed with her stylish outfits.

If you like this series, check out the rest of Takaoka's collage work. He specializes in odd mashups of film, art, and pop culture. Just be warned: the rest of his stuff is much weirder. And oddly addictive as a result.
