Mesmerizing Photos Of Metro Stations That Look Like Sci-fi Sets

Chris Forsyth believes that metro stations are completely underrated.

Commuters are distracted, constantly running for the next train or buried in their phones. Public transportation is just a part of their daily routine and so it often goes unnoticed.

In this series, Forsyth encourages us to slow and appreciate the beauty of underground metros. The series includes stations from his home city of Montreal plus Berlin, Munich, and Stockholm.

“Honestly, I’m just really obsessed with looking at photos of metros,” Forsyth says. “[I’m] just trying to bring out that overlooked beauty in the architecture that I find people tend to miss when they’re on their daily commute.”

Underground transit systems are often as much a function of design as they are of utility.

"Underground transit systems are often as much a function of design as they are of utility," Forsyth continues.

"The Metro Project is a personal exploration of the art and architecture of metro stations around the world. Each space communicates a unique atmosphere that is a product of its design, from Montreal’s Brutalist stations to Stockholm’s hand-painted bedrock caves."

#themetroproject - Munich is such a great city! Working through these photos is bringing me back. Wish I were there :')
