You'll Be Stunned Once You See These Photos Of China At Night

You'd be forgiven for thinking you're looking at the film stills from movies like Bladerunner or Ghost In The Shell, but these cinematic images of neon-lit alleys were photographed during the present day. They're the evocative work of French photographer and graphic designer Marilyn Mugot, who considers visionaries including Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick and David Cronenberg as her inspirations.

The series titled 'Night Project' was shot over 6 weeks in various locations and hidden neighbourhoods around Chongqing, Guilin and Hong Kong in China.

Mugot captured each image just as the sun had set, when the earth's natural light and warm glow becomes replaced with the artificial and man-made.

"I prefer to work at night because it’s exciting. The lights and the elements take on mystical and secret dimensions which are not always real but a result of my imagination" she explains.

You can see more of Mugot's atmospheric and imaginative work through her official Instagram channel right here.
