Before And After: This Is What Happens When Emo Kids Grow Up

There's something highly addicting about before-and-after photos. Especially when it comes to seeing people's early teenage fashion and their frantic search for their own identity.

Someone asked Reddit, "Emos of the early 2000's, what are you guys doing now?". The photos and answers they got in response are utterly hilarious. It's maybe a little too familiar for some of us who also went through a dark, brooding fashion stage. Be prepared, this series is highly cringe-worthy.

Over the last 10-15 years, it looks like most of the early "2000's Emos" have become pretty normal. Gone are the days of razored black hair, tight band T's, armbands, and constant moodiness.

Many Redditors made a complete transformation and even started their own families! Did you notice the couple that met as Emos and transformed together?

Thanks Reddit.

Enjoy!

1. "Me and my girlfriend when we first met vs. now. The regretful emo phase."

2. "I'm a proper grown up now, working as a trainer for the bank, buying my first property, paying the mortgage. Still feel like a filthy wee emo though."

3. "I am a loving father and husband. Gone are the days of black hair and bullshit. What a difference 10 years can make."

4. "Before on the left: 15 years old. After on the right: 25 years old. I'm the mom to a neat four year old, I'm married, and I'm the manager of a local convenience store. All things I told myself at fifteen that I'd never do. I'm a boring adult but I think I'm better off now than I was then, that's for sure."

5. "I became a fireman, if I talked to myself 8 years ago and said you would cut your hair and become part of the fire department I would've never believed myself"

6. "Look at me bein' all sad n shit. Took this picture with a motherfuckin DSLR camera. Held it away from my face (took tremendous left arm strength let me tell you) then pretended to look all sad and thoughtful."

7. "I'm now 27, started my family earlier this year, moving into a house in 9 days, and I'm studying to become a laboratory technologist. Wohoo!"
