This Old Cement Factory Is The Most Amazing Home You'll Ever See

You have to admire the vision and dedication of Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. In 1973 he purchased an obsolete cement factory which was originally used during the first World War.

Despite being located a few kilometers from the vibrant city of Barcelona in Spain, the giant factory was in a sorry state of disrepair. Yet despite its stark appearance Bofill knew it was the ideal place to create the home of his dreams. Today The Cement Factory has been transformed to one of the most stunning residences in the country.

His expansive renovations saw a wealth of improvements, rooms were expanded, spaces were opened up and a fresh injection of dense greenery and lush vegetation reinvigorated its bleak exteriors. You'll find olive, palm and eucalyptus trees proudly surrounding the property but its inside where the magic truly happens.

Bofill has purposed designed each room to be entirely different from the next, a blend of unique spaces and shifting tones that must be a joy to live in and call home.

"The Cement Factory is a place of work par excellence. I have the impression of living in a closed universe which protects me from the outside and everyday life. Life goes on here in a continuous sequence, with very little difference between work and leisure." explains Bofill.

Whilst there are constant changes and improvements being made to The Cement Factory (inline with Bofill's creative whims and seemingly bottomless bank account) it serves an impressive reminder to us all that your home can be as personal and unique as your imagination allows.
