He's one of the most experienced and revered actors of a generation, 73 year-old Christopher Walken (real name Ronald Walken) has been in show business for over 60 years.

During his remarkable career he's starred and played leading roles in over 100 movies and TV shows.

Those include the likes of Annie Hall (1977), The Deer Hunter (1978), The Dogs of War (1980), The Dead Zone (1983), A View to a Kill (1985), Batman Returns (1992), True Romance (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Hairspray (2007) and Seven Psychopaths (2012).

His greatest achievement to date was winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his incredible portrayal of Nikanor "Nick" Chebotarevich in The Deer Hunter in 1978.

Generations of movies fans have grown up with him, often in awe of his unique characters and deadpan mannerisms. His films have grossed over $1 billion in the United States - he's by far one of their most reliable and hard-working stars.

But rewind some 63 years ago, back to when Walken was just 10 years-old and even at that age he was an entertainer. These candid photographs shot in 1953 depict Walken dressed as a clown goofing around whilst also looking rather menacing at times.

It would stand him in good stead too, many of Walken's future roles would be filled with characters that you were both entertained yet slightly terrified of.
