This Is The Most Heart-Warming Photographic Series You'll See All Year

Travel back in time to the City of Peterborough in the UK any time between the early 70s and late 90s and you'll find photographer Chris Porsz capturing hundreds of unique individuals in and around the city. At the time he was simply interested in documenting the locals and aspects of their everyday lives.

Rich or poor it didn't matter, all that Porsz wanted to ensure was that each image was a genuine and honest reflection of that period in their lives.

Now an incredible 40 years later, Porsz has spent hours upon hours tracking down the individuals in his original photographs and asked them to recreate the same shots in the same locations.

"I don’t think anyone else has tracked down so many strangers and recreated photos in this way before. To be honest, it took a lot of tenacious detective work, meticulous planning and, often, unbelievable coincidences."

"It has been enormously satisfying to do so many reunions and seeing the smiles on people's faces as they met up with old friends again. I've felt very privileged."

It is a heart-warming (and at times even saddening) series of images that highlight the unique bonds and friendships that exist within the community. Whilst their circumstances might have changed and whilst Father Time may have paid them a visit, there is an undeniable familiarity between each photo.

The entire series is made up of 135 remarkable reunions - all of which are featured in the beautiful book of the same name. 'Reunions' is available for sale direct from Porsz's website right here
