This Awesome Human 3D Printed New Legs For A Crippled Dog

Derby the dog was born with very small forelegs and no front paws. He was unable to walk on his own and ended up in the New Hampshire-based rescue known as Peace and Paws. Derby's future didn't look so bright.

But by a stroke of good fortune, Derby was soon adopted by Tara Anderson. Lucky for Derby, Anderson worked for a 3D printing company and she immediately got work using the firm's technology to design new legs for Derby!

The resulting design was a set of prostheses consisting of attachment cups, rubber treads, and rigid spokes which enable Derby to run free on all kinds of terrain! But Anderson wasn't content to just allow Derby to run and kept working to come up with a better design.

This year she completed a new set of legs modeled after the human knee which are more comfortable than the old set and allows Derby to sit naturally, just like a normal dog.

Isn't technology amazing?!
