The Remarkable Story Of New York City's Blind Photographer

The Remarkable Story Of New York City's Blind Photographer

This is Riley Hooper.

RILEY

She's a documentary filmmaker (and member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective) who created 'FLO' the award-winning documentary about the celebrated and charismatic New York photographer Flo Fox.

And this is Flo herself.

FLO

Despite being severely visually impaired, wheelchair bound and suffering from lung cancer and multiple sclerosis, Flo remarkably continues to photograph and document her love for New York City. She does so by asking her aides to take the photo for her and whilst her body is too frail to hold the camera anymore, her remarkable spirit, sharp wit, unbridled passion and cheeky sense of humour all remain in tact.

I went out with my first paycheck and bought a camera. I was aged 26 and I carried it with me every day for 40 years.

Hooper's touching documentary is an outstanding tale of one of the most remarkable individuals you're ever likely to meet. Flo's genuine love for photography, in spite of her physical difficulties, is a true inspiration to all.
