Provocative & Desirable Pin-Up Girls From 1930's

You might not be overly familiar with his name, but you would have certainly seen the work of American painter Gil Elvgren.

He was renowned for his impressive and iconic paintings of pin-up girls which were charming, chic and more than a tad cheeky. And like all great artists, he too needed inspiration and a visual reference for his work.

His personal studio was often filled with ladies flaunting their lingerie and undergarments as Elvgren placed them in different scenarios and situations for his work. Below are 7 examples of the models he used and the final portraits of each.

It is a tribute to his technical proficiency and vision that even today, he remains one of the most important commercial glamour and pin-up artists of the 20th century.

Despite passing away in 1980, the book Gil Elvgren: All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups contains an impressive collection of 600 of his unique and provocative illustrations.
