Old Typewriters Ripped Apart, Turned Into Human Forms

We’ve previously given you glimpse into the world of yesteryear technology ripped and stripped down to its bare skeleton, but rather than breaking down products & devices to their most basic parts, how about reconfiguring & resembling them into something utterly different?

One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure as they say.

It’s an area where visionary sculpture Jeremy Mayer excels. He carefully pulls apart disused typewriters, transforming them into cyborgs, animals and human figures. You can hardly believe that those large, cumbersome and clunky machines, could be morphed into something so complex and delicate.

Below is a TED talk where he talks extensively about his passion and its origins.

It’s a credit to not only Mayer’s imagination and vision – but also his sheer patience. He has to spend countless hours painstakingly piecing together every individual metal strip, bolt, gear and switch to create these beautiful characters. Here is just a mere sample of his outstanding work, make sure you view more of his exciting creations via his official site.
