Here’s How Batman Unwinds When He’s Not Saving Gotham

Alex Wain February 5, 2013 2

Thanks to the brooding Batman films of Christopher Nolan & his portrayal by the stern Christian Bale, Batman as a character is a lot darker and certainly a lot less campy than his original showing in the 1960 TV series.

So it’s refreshing to see freelance illustrator and animator Sarah Johnson taking Batman out Nolan’s dark shadows and putting him into a very ordinary set of circumstances. In fact her funny and irreverent series is actually called the Ordinary Batman Adventures - it’s playful, witty and funny something that ‘The Dark Knight’ certainly hasn’t been in a while.

“Working from home and not always have a gig going on means I get to catch up on all the great TV shows I never had time to watch growing up. That included watching every episode of every animated series of Batman. The reason I probably connect with Batman more than other superheroes is that he does not have powers like my number one favorite heroes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,”

So join us as Johnson gives us a peek into the 9-5 routine of one of the world’s most famous superheros.
