There’s few people in the world quite as tattooed as political candidate Vladimir Franz and even less running for President of the Czech Republic in 2013. But as you’re about to find out, look can be deceiving.
Far from being some outcast freak of nature, Franz is not only an incredibly versatile painter and opera composer, he’s actually a Professor of Drama at one of the most expensive and prestigious Universities in Prague. He even attended and graduated law school in his youth.
But in short, at age 53 the guy is switched on.
You’d expect someone who had an extreme look, to probably house extreme views (Right-wing Nazi skinheads are one cultural stereotype that typifies such thinking) but his views are moderate, sensible and seem to garner a fair amount of mainstream support. If you didn’t see his appearance and just read his manifesto, you’d find him to be quite agreeable all things told.
He needs 50,000 signatures in order to officially become accepted as a legitimate candidate for the role of President – he’s driving his campaign entirely through social media, so do check out his Facebook page and pass it around to any of your friends who live or can vote in the Czech Republic.
If he wins, you’d have to admit, it would make global politics a lot more interesting to watch…
