We’ve featured 3 rappers that genuinely need their microphones stolen and even showcased the most tragically hilarious album covers from the genre itself. But as an artform rap / hip-hop’s roots are firmly set in the lyrical poetry & verbal jousting that goes on behind the microphone. Away from the photo shoots, the bling bling and gangsta shootouts, it ultimately comes down to those words in your headphones, the stories they create and the way they’re delivered.
As Eminem once said “Look at me work wizardry with these words” and we all did, millions of us, all rather spellbound at the speed of his words and the witty puns he peppered throughout. That’s why he’s the highest selling rapper of all time.
Alas, if only we could say the same for the following individuals, who’s choice of lyrics in these examples is certainly more than a little baffling at times.
