Texas born painter Camargo Valentino is renowned for creating slightly warped portraits of some of the most famous faces in popular culture, from boxers like Muhammad Ali, to visionaries like Andy Warhol, through to cartoon superheros like Astro Boy – all are recreated in stunning detail, with Valentino adding just a dash of melancholy and deviousness to his final works.
When it comes to his subjects, Camargo adds
I paint what I am most attracted to; icons, comics, movies, history, art, sports figures, hip hop, my heritage and world myths. So my paintings are a combination of all these things rolled into one with a splash of myself.
