They’re cheaper than a trip to the movies, Jiamei is a Chinese plastic toy manufacture that makes wait for it….sex dolls. They sell for an average of around $10 US and roughly each year they sell over 50,000 dolls in Korea and Japan every year. That’s a lot of lonely men, saving a lot of money on movies, dinners and taxis fares home.

The Jiamei plastic toy company, based in the suburb of Ningbo, Zhejiang province, China, produces cheap sex dolls at an average price of 100RMB (£10), and has done so for several years. According to the company, more than 50,000 sex dolls are sold to the domestic market in Japan and Korea each year. Wired.co.uk takes a photograph tour behind the scenes.
