It’s the most valuable company in the world and some say the most innovative, a beacon of style, function and design.
But long before Apple became the icon of cool that it is today, waaaaaaay back in 1986 they actually released a fashion line….
The range showcased some of the most garish (and frankly god-awful) clip art designs and fonts from the Apple range, all proudly emblazoned on polo tops for men & casual-sports wear for kiddies and mum. Imagine Lacoste or Ralph Lauren attempting to do geek chic and you’re getting close.
The ultimate irony is that iconic Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, was famous for shunning any sense of fashion with his plain black turtleneck tops, regular blue jeans and beige sneakers. Although in his defense, he’d left the company by the time “The Apple Collection” was launched.
But an ill-advised foray into fashion aside, Apple got it right in the long run didn’t they?
