Asylums have occupied a dark and mysterious part of our collective psyche due to the images of padded walls, straitjackets, peeling paint and patients wandering around in a daze as seen in films like Silence of the Lambs, Shutter Island and 12 Monkeys
In this haunting but beautiful video by Drew Geraci, you can almost feel the souls of the patients who occupied the now abandoned asylum back in the 1920s.
