Michael Jordan – without question the greatest basketball player of all time, turned 49 earlier this week. In his prime, he was one of the most naturally gifted and talented players of a generation, flying (literally!) through the air, breaking records and raising the standard of the game to a whole new level.
To celebrate we’ve picked some of the classic and most iconic photos of the legend himself, from his early formative years, through to the peak of his career.

And honestly, admit it (especially if you were a kid in the 1990′s) Michael Jordan showing Michael Jackson how to slam dunk, whilst Jackson shows him how to moonwalk is probably one of the coolest videos you’re ever likely to see.

Finally, who could forget one of the greatest ever moments in professional sport, bed-ridden with the flu before the 1997 NBA Finals – Utah Jazz Vs. Chicago Bulls, Jordan played the majority of the game, scoring 38 points & winning the game almost single-handedly – all through sheer drive, determination and the will to win. He then collapsed post game from exhaustion.
A true legend in anyones book.
