Google Maps has given each of us the power to gain a better understanding about our world, Google Street view allows us to see it in breathtaking detail. If you haven’t heard about Google Street view, it’s an initiative by Google which they started 4 years ago with a single mission – to photograph every road in the world.

How do they do it? Well, everyday thousands of plain white vans complete with cameras drive along remote regions, through to built up cities taking photographs every few meters. Piece them all together, combine with Google Maps and hey presto you can not only explore different areas around world, you can actually see the view literally from the street.

Photographer Aaron Hobson has picked out 15 of his favourite shots taken by the Google van, which give a magical and often enchanted view of our planet.
