If someone called you an artist when you were making that third cup of coffee this morning, still bleary eyed from the weekend you’d tell them they had to be joking right? Well visionary German photographer Heinz Maier has taken something very mundane (The pouring and splashing of water) and turned it into something quite incredible.
At first glance, the following images appear to be the creations of a first year glass blowing student attempting to make a series of mushrooms, lampshades and umbrellas (well, deformed and slightly surreal versions) when in fact they are photos of splashes, taken with a high-speed camera and shot in HD.
We’ve all see the shots of water droplets taken at high-speed, but nothing quite like this. Mesmerizing, unique and utterly utterly breathtaking.
